Today I start a big journey. It will be hard,
very hard! But in the end, I know it will be worth it! I can't wait to fit into my old clothes and go buy new ones! But that is afar off... I have 50lbs to loose OR 6 dress sizes to go! Many others have been successful in their endeavour and I intend to be one of those people! My husband is 100% behind me, along with my friends and family! I am thankful for those of you who are encouraging me! You have NO idea how much that helps! Please keep doing it! :)
I am also trying to cut back on my caffeine intake. Decaf coffee and no soda. So if I have to drink soda... [You know because sometimes you just need / crave those bubbles.] Then diet & caffeine free! I have heard that even drinking
diet soda is not good for your diet. LoL!
I am going to do a similar diet to weight watchers. Similar meaning, I am not going to eat lettuce and chicken. I want to be reasonable with myself, and I know that aint gonna cut it! So instead a
lifestyle change!!
I have been done some research.. My calories that I can have for a day are 1500. And I am adding vitamins [GNC be-wholesome health and beauty vitapak] it is so important to take vitamins!
When I went to a nutritionist, she told me that when my body craves certain things, [some not so good things] its not because my taste buds are saying, "Oh remember what that tastes like?" Its actually your body telling you that you need that food's nutrient. [[So if you take vitamins, your body will stop craving because it is getting the nutrients that it needs.]] BUT I have also heard that is a bunch of noise... SO believe what you want :)
I am making sure that I getting the best nutrients for my body. Lots of protein, veggies, some fruit, starches, grains and of course little bit of good fat.. If there is such a thing lol ;) Overall, just trying to eat better and exercise.
I was very motivated to change my body, because I have realized how much I have turned it into a trashcan rather than a temple.
19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Let this be your motivation too!
A simple nutrition guide for life
Breakfast:
- oatmeal
- egg whites
- low sugar cereal (special K, shredded wheat, corn flakes, bran flakes, etc.)
- 2-sl bread, or english muffin or bagel. Small amount of peanut butter, or a low-sugar jam, low fat cream cheese (I use ww) or spray butter.
- Use skim milk for your oatmeal / cereal.
- Add fruit with this meal or a glass of juice (mix some water with this, juices are high in sugar)
Mid-morning snack:
- yogurt (light)
- cottage cheese (light)
- fresh veggies
- protein drink or bar
- add fruit with this meal. Plus water
Lunch:
4=28 gr / 6=42 gr / 8=56 gr
- A 4 - 6 - 8 oz. source of protein: skinless chicken breast, can of tuna in water, fish, etc. I sometimes add a red meat because this can be blan. But only once a week.
- Broiled, baked or grilled preferably
- salad or veggies
- a portion of starchy carbohydrate: 1-cup cooked brown rice, brown pasta, yam, baked potato or your choice of 2 slices of whole wheat bread.
- Plus water
Mid-day snack:
- 1 cup fresh veggies, 1 serving string cheese or cottage cheese, or yogurt. Mix it up from your mid-morning choice.
No fruit after 2pm or 8 hours before bed, and No starch after 3pm or 7 hours before bed!
If you eat your afternoon snacks like I do, I throw in a fruit. But I usually keep to this rule.
Dinner:
- 4 - 6 - 8 oz. source of protein, same as lunch.
- 2 cups of veggies, steamed is your best bet. Plus a medium sized salad with a small amount of low-cal or light dressing. (no croutons!)
- Plus water or water-based fluids like crystal light or iced tea. (watch the sweetener).
Late evening hunger:
- Snack only if you must!!! But keep the portion size small and it should consist of veggie or small salad. Plus water.
If you have a diet / lifestyle change that you are doing that works perfect for you, then don't change it! I just have to eat only certain things or else I feel like I can eat whatever haha! I have to make guidelines for myself!! I stay within my 1500 calories :)
Enjoy~
